Every month when the latest installments of health magazines hit the shelves, the world is smothered in weight loss tips. Most of these tips are not reliable and some can even be dangerous. Yet, people continue to suck up this gibberish and are harmed by it.
First things first: any weight loss tip that includes a pill or supplement probably will not work the way you want it to and you should just ignore it. You should also stay away from any type of “fad diet” as it will probably cause more harm than good to your body. Below are three common weight lost myths and what really is the truth behind them.
Most people believe that they will be able to see the results of their weight loss plan in the mirror. This is not true. Often the effects will be internal before you can spot them externally.
If your diet plan is making you feel better, that means that it is working, regardless of the results in the mirror. Results have to be internal before they can be external. The best thing you can do is just stick to your plan and give it a good, solid chance.
Unfortunately, a large amount of people believe that the only way to lose weight is to simply stop eating. While it is true that you should reduce your calorie intake while trying to lose weight, starvation will get you nowhere. Cutting too many calories will actually cause you to gain weight.
When a person stops eating, the body will store fat because it is going into “survival mode.” Because of this, a lack of food will actually cause a dieter to gain weight instead of losing it like they intended. The best diet does not drastically overhaul a person’s calories consumption.
When people exercise to lose weight, many choose to use only cardio exercises because they believe that cardio is their only option. This is not true. Yoga, aerobics, and Pilates are all exercises that promote the body to shed pounds.
After a body adapts to a workout routine, weight loss tends to slow down or even come to a complete stop. The best workout routines for weight loss combine all four types of exercises. This allows the person to lose the most weight. If weight loss is your goal, stick to proven methods and stay away from unpredictable tips.
